SAP MM IMPLEMENTATION FOR A CAR MANUFACTURING COMPANY (CLIENT)
Project Overview:
This project is to help our client address the challenges in the supply chain and inventory, enhancing its product quality, meet new regulatory standards, production deadlines and improve collaborations with suppliers & customers.
Our client is a leading global automotive supplier with over 300 manufacturing facilities and over 80 product development, engineering, and sales centers in more than 25 countries. with staff strength of over 1500 that are focused on delivering superior value to customers through the use of innovative process and world class manufacturing.
It is expected that with the implementation of SAP S/4HANA software, we optimize the business process, standardize the procurement processes, improve real-time visibility/material tracking, increase efficiency in inventory management, and enhance short time product-to-market.
In-Scope:
● Configuration, and customization of SAP MM module leveraging SAP best practices.
● Migration of master data (material master, vendor master) and open transaction data.
● Development of procurement workflows.
● Implementation of inventory management functionalities.
● Invoice verification setup.
● Integration with SAP-FI and SAP-SD.
● Perform training with the trainer and training documentation.
● 2 months Post-implementation support.
Out-of-Scope:
● Implementation of non-MM related SAP modules.
● Implementation in regions outside North America
● Development of customer ports unless identified during workshops for localization requirements.
● Any hardware procurement or infrastructure setup.
Solution
During implementation we identified all the key areas of the manufacturing portfolio that included, the body exteriors and structure, the power and vision section (powertrain components responsible for transmission & drivetrain systems-mirrors, cameras, the driver assistance systems), the seating systems, the car engine systems, the complete assembly & testing, mechatronics (synergy of mechanical, electronics & software), electrifications, and more.
We set up best practices standards and manage the backlog of configuration and development, meeting for daily stand-up meetings to work through impediments. After getting the SAP Landscape platform and innovations roadmap approved by the Board, we ensured continuously collaboration to deliver business value with multiple releases of development, integration and business capability to discuss issues like; Project requirement elicitation, analysis of the requirements, project specification, project validation, identify the deliverables, risk analysis & mitigation, and areas of change management.
Based on our FIT-GAP analysis we configured and implemented the IMG structure, that enabled us to setup all the necessary transaction implementation codes & settings; which was later validated during the unit testing with various transactions.
We prepared our change management and training documents that will be useful for the users.
The Cutover and Run phase was successful, and we proceeded to GO LIVE.
After the implementation of the new SAP S/4HANA solutions and services, we recorded improvement in process efficiencies, increased integration, linking of multiple business processes, decreased costs, improved compliance & lower operational costs, and efficient vendor & inventory management. Will this processes, we had drastic reduction in errors across all the operation platforms, resulting in complete end-to-end accelerated organizational performance.
